What we do

Water & plumbing, done to the standard.

Plumbing for homes and landlords across Caversham, Reading and Henley — from a dripping tap to a Megaflow cylinder service — carried out by WaterSafe approved, Water Regs UK certificated plumbers, with 24-hour emergency call-outs.

01

24/7 Emergency Plumbing

A leak, a burst pipe, an overflow or a drain backing up doesn't keep office hours. Alongside our weekday 8am–8pm cover we run a 24-hour emergency hotline: Paul and Angus get to you, isolate the problem, find the cause and fix it fast. As WaterSafe approved plumbers, emergency repairs on your supply are done to regulation standard, first time.

02

Water Leak Detection

A stain on a ceiling, a damp patch, an unexplained water bill — we track the source with thermal imaging cameras and pipe inspection cameras rather than pulling up half your floor. Leaks behind walls, under floors and in buried pipework are pinpointed precisely, then repaired cleanly. One review describes us sealing a shower to make it completely leak-proof; another, a leak in the main feed into a kitchen solved without fuss.

03

Water & Waste Pipe Repair

A burst pipe is one of the few genuine plumbing emergencies; a slow-failing joint is the quiet kind. We isolate the supply to stop any flood, then repair or renew the failed section in whatever the pipe is made of — copper, steel, plastic or old lead. Because we're Water Regs UK certificated (formerly WRAS), the repair meets the requirements for work on your water supply, not just a temporary fix.

04

Water Pressure & Flow Improvement

Low water pressure has a cause, and we find it: a stuck pressure-reducing valve, furred or restricted pipework, or a mains supply that's simply weak. Depending on what we find, we'll remove or replace a PRV, inspect and clear pipework with high-pressure hydro-jetting, or fit a booster pump such as the Salamander Homeboost to bring the flow back up to where it should be.

05

Drain & Waste Unblocking

A clogged sink, a slow-draining bath or a blocked toilet gets sorted fast. For a stubborn or buried blockage we run a drain camera survey to see exactly what's going on, then clear it with a high-torque electric auger or high-pressure jetting. As one client put it after an emergency cloggage: arrived the next morning and sorted the issue — done perfectly at a fair price. We clear it, check the run, and leave everything working and tidy.

06

Overflow & Supply Isolation

A dripping or running overflow pipe outside means something inside isn't sealing — a worn ball valve or float — and we trace and fix it to stop the waste. We also handle water-supply isolation, whether it's a planned shut-off for other work or an emergency stop, via the internal stopcock, external stop tap or an individual fixture valve. Knowing where your water turns off, and that the valves actually work, is quietly one of the most useful things a plumber can leave you with.

07

Water Softening & Conditioning

The Thames Valley sits on hard, chalky water that furs up pipework, kettles, showers and boilers with limescale. As hard-water specialists we advise on, supply and install the right answer for your home — a salt-based softener, a salt-free conditioner, a magnetic or electronic inhibitor, an electrolytic scale inhibitor or a polyphosphate dispenser. Being Thames Water approved, we know exactly what's coming out of the local supply.

08

Water Tank Repair & Maintenance

The cold-water storage tank in the loft is easy to forget until it leaks or the water sitting in it stops being clean. We repair, replace or sanitise tanks of all types, from a straightforward ball-valve replacement to epoxy patching of a hairline crack and plastic welding where a repair makes more sense than a full swap — keeping your stored water safe and your ceiling dry.

09

Kitchen Plumbing & Appliances

Everything under and around the kitchen sink: taps and mixers, sinks and wastes, dishwashers, boiling-water taps and InSinkErator waste disposal units. New appliances are connected tidily and tested; existing ones are repaired. All the under-sink pipework is left neat, accessible and working, with the water regulations respected throughout.

10

Bathroom Plumbing & Renovation

Shower, bath and basin installation and repair, extractor-fan fitting, and complete bathroom and wet-room projects. Whether it's a leaking shower tray, a new suite or a room taken back to brick and rebuilt, it's plumbed in cleanly and finished properly. A review describes a shower left completely leak-proof — that's the standard on the bathroom work.

11

Toilets & Sanitary Services

Running, leaking, blocked or weak-flushing toilets repaired, and every type installed — close-coupled, wall-hung, back-to-wall, comfort height and rimless. We can also fit an anti-rodent barrier where that's a concern. As one review notes, the flush is now working much better — everything left clean and tidy.

12

Taps & Valves — Install & Repair

The small jobs are the ones that nag: a dripping tap, a worn stop valve, a stiff isolation valve. We repair and install every tap type — compression, ball, cartridge and ceramic disc — and the valves behind them, restoring a clean, full flow. Sometimes it's a new washer or O-ring; sometimes a fresh cartridge; occasionally a water-hammer arrestor to stop the banging pipes.

13

Heating & Hot Water Systems

Installation and repair of combi boilers, conventional and system boilers, vented and unvented cylinders, and radiators of every kind — panel, column, vertical, towel and designer. Whether it's a new system, a repair or a radiator that never gets warm, we get the heat and hot water back where they belong and the system running efficiently.

14

Unvented Cylinder Servicing

Unvented hot-water cylinders store hot water under mains pressure and must, by law, be serviced by a G3-qualified engineer — which we are. We carry out the annual G3 service and any repairs on Megaflow, Gledhill, Vaillant and similar cylinders, keeping the system safe and any manufacturer warranty valid.

15

Central Heating Power Flushing

Cold spots at the bottom of radiators, a boiler working too hard, brown water when you bleed — that's sludge, rust and scale settling in the system. We power-flush it out using the right method for your setup: chemical, mechanical, MagnaCleanse, thermal or reverse-flow flushing. The system is then refilled with a corrosion inhibitor to keep it clean, so the heat spreads evenly again and the boiler runs easier.

16

Radiator & Valve Repair

Radiators that won't warm, valves that won't turn or that weep at the gland. We repair and replace manual, thermostatic (TRV) and smart thermostatic radiator valves, tighten packing glands, renew O-rings, bleed trapped air and fit water-hammer arrestors where needed — so each radiator does its share and the heating balances properly.

17

Pump & Valve Repair

When the heat or hot water goes intermittent, the culprit is often the circulating pump or the 3-port diverter valve. We diagnose circulation pump faults — electrical components, leaks, trapped air, pressure — and repair or replace as needed. The 3-port valve controls whether the system is heating your home or your water; we fix the diverter, or replace it when it's too far gone.

18

Immersion Heater Repair & Installation

If your hot water depends on an immersion heater and it's stopped heating, it's usually the element or the thermostat. We test, replace faulty heating elements, thermostats and gaskets, descale where limescale has taken hold, and fit new immersion heaters — getting your hot water back and keeping it that way.

19

Underfloor Heating Repair

Underfloor heating is wonderful until part of the floor stays cold. We repair both hydronic (water-based) and electric underfloor systems — tracing cold spots, calibrating thermostats, finding leaks and balancing the water flow across the loops — so the whole floor warms evenly again.

20

Outdoor & Garden Plumbing

Plumbing that lives outside: new garden taps, irrigation systems, drainage solutions, plumbing for a garden room or outbuilding, low-level guttering, and pipe insulation to protect against freezing over winter. The outdoor jobs are done to the same standard as the ones you can see indoors.

21

Waste Disposal Repair

A waste disposal unit that jams, hums, leaks, has lost power or smells is usually fixable rather than a write-off. We diagnose and repair kitchen disposal units, including InSinkErator, working through the common faults so you're not left doing the washing-up by hand.

22

Booster Pump Installation

Where the mains supply is simply too weak for a decent shower or a fast-filling bath, a booster pump is the answer. We install devices such as the Salamander Homeboost to lift your flow rate within the water regulations — a properly specified, properly fitted fix rather than a workaround.
