Approvals & accreditations

Dual water-authority approved — and what that means for you.

Anyone can call themselves a plumber. Very few carry both WaterSafe and Thames Water endorsements at once — in Caversham and Reading, we believe we're the only ones who do. Here is every approval we hold, in plain English, and why each one matters when someone is working on your water.

Our strongest assurance

WaterSafe + Thames Water, together.

Most plumbers hold one water credential, if any. AngusPLUMBING holds the national WaterSafe listing and the local Thames Water recommendation at the same time — described as unique in the Caversham and Reading area. If you only check one thing before letting someone touch your supply, check this.

Water fittings

WaterSafe approved

WaterSafe is the UK-wide accreditation body for plumbers who work on the water supply to a recognised, contamination-safe standard. Being listed means our work on your pipework, tanks and fittings meets the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations — the rules that keep the public supply clean.

What it means for you: Work on your incoming water supply is done to the national standard, not a shortcut.

The local water authority

Thames Water approved & recommended

Thames Water is the water authority for this region. AngusPLUMBING is approved and recommended by them — and, as far as we know, we are the only plumber in Caversham and Reading to hold this alongside WaterSafe. It is the endorsement of the people who actually supply and regulate your water.

What it means for you: The company running your local supply trusts us to work on it. That is unusual for a small firm.

The professional institute

CIPHE member

The Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineers is the professional body for the trade. Membership means we are held to a code of professional conduct and keep our knowledge current, rather than working outside any professional framework.

What it means for you: You are hiring a member of the recognised professional institute, with the accountability that brings.

Formerly WRAS

Water Regs UK certificated

Water Regs UK (formerly WRAS) certification confirms training in the Water Fittings Regulations in detail — how to avoid backflow, cross-connection and contamination when installing anything that touches the mains supply.

What it means for you: Installations that touch the mains are done in a way that cannot contaminate your drinking water.

Unvented hot water

G3 qualified (unvented cylinders)

Unvented hot-water cylinders — Megaflow, Gledhill, Vaillant and similar — store hot water under mains pressure and must, by law, be installed and serviced by a G3-qualified engineer. We hold that qualification, so we can legally service and maintain them.

What it means for you: Your unvented cylinder can be serviced legally and safely — keeping any manufacturer warranty valid.

Local standing

Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce

AngusPLUMBING is a member of the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce — a mark of an established, accountable local business rather than an anonymous national call-centre operation.

What it means for you: A settled, recognised local business you can actually find and hold to account.
